Hard Candy x Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe is a beauty and style icon, which is why so many makeup lovers were somewhat surprised when Hard Candy launched a collection in tribute to her. Obviously, there was no involvement from Marilyn or anyone in her life, therefore, it invites a very critical eye at each product to see exactly how a drugstore brand would honour her legacy in the beauty industry.

I got a couple pieces for myself to test out, that I would get most use out of, and here’s my review:

Rose Drench Refresher Spray – infused with hyaluronic acid and rosewater, it leaves the skin radiant and hydrated. I don’t think it prolongs the wear time of makeup, however, it doesn’t claim to (just thought I’d note that). I enjoy the fine mist and the scent of the spray, and the 75 ml size is an average for a setting spray at a good deal of $6.

Translucent Loose Powder + Rose Hip Oil – locks makeup in with a velvety finish that gives a sheer glow to skin. It’s weightless, has a Paraben, Mineral Oil-free formula, and instantly refines texture and blurs imperfections. The powder is very finely milled, and at 10 mg for $7 I definitely recommend.

Precision Brow Pencil – the precise tip allows for natural, hair-like strokes; use the spoolie side to soften the look for a fuller, feathered effect. It’s a formula that’s in balance between too stiff and too creamy, easy to work with, and definitely scores my endorsement. 0.06 g for $6 is justified in my book.

Get the collection on their website or at you local Walmart store.
